Dabba started with a simple frustration: the spices sitting on most kitchen shelves have been ground, bagged, shipped, warehoused, and re-shipped so many times that by the time they reach you, half the aroma is gone. What's left is technically cardamom, technically cinnamon — but not really. We wanted the real thing. So we started buying whole.
"Dabba" is the tin box every Indian kitchen already knows — the one that gets passed down, refilled, never thrown away. That's the feeling we're chasing: spices you trust enough to keep close, not the anonymous jar at the back of the cupboard.
Small farms across South India and Sri Lanka, harvested in season and dried the traditional way.
Every spice in the tin comes from a grower we can actually name — someone tending a small plot, not a plantation the size of a district. It costs a little more to buy this way. It also means the person who grew your cardamom actually sees a fair price for it, and you get something that was picked, dried, and packed with an actual person's care behind it, not a factory line.
